Men without Hats Concert in Montreal Nov.10,2012

The popular '80 synth-pop band "Men Without Hats" are currently on tour to promote their most recent album "Love In The Age of War". Ivan Doroschuk, lead singer and songwriter of the band, has not lost his fervor and enthusiasm to write poppy electro beats sticking to his his roots that made him and Men Without Hats what they are today.Although his original band members are no longer playing with Ivan; hello brother Stefan and Colin, and other keyboard members thru the years such as Lenny Pinkas,Alan McCarthy (R.I.P.) and Jean-Marc Pisapia to name but a few, Ivan was still able to put together a solid competent group of musicians to back him up. As evidenced in his recent live performances Men Without Hats can still rev up the audiences with classics such as "Safety Dance",and "Pop Goes The World" in which Ivan described in Montreal recently as being a song first written about the drug mesculin and then over the years taking on different meanings such as world conflict. The new album "Love in the Age of War" released in June 2012 does have some very strong tracks. "Head Above Water", "Everybody Knows","The Girl With The Silicon Eyes",and "This War". The song "This War" is the opening song of the band's live concert. If you don't like to bop or dance at a concert then Men Without Hats is not the show you'd want to go see. But if you like to dance and move around, and you have a liking to groovy ambient-like electro pop music, then Ivan and his troops have exactly what the doctor has ordered.  I consider myself an original fan of their sound and music and a Men Without Hats "purist". Ivan can still maintain the intensity and the skillful music making that he is capable of. There was experimentation in electronics, even some rock 'n roll in the band's repertoire. It was to say the least, exhilarating. But that was then, and Love in the Age of War is today. The band's recent live performances summarizes everything you need to know about the band since 1979. It's a lot of fun, and you will undoubtedly dance to the music. With a smile ! For all the latest news and tour dates of Men Without Hats visit their website at :

Café MILANO's Italian Coffee & Cake Bistro in Montreal

Everybody read this ! You must check out Café Milano's : 5196 Jarry Street East in the St. Leonard district in the north eastern section of Montreal,Québec Canada. Telephone for reservations at 514-328-0561. What to expect : authentic Italian pastries and cake. Very high quality coffees from capuccino, to expresso, café lattés .
The service is excellent. Here's how it works. I got there on a Saturday night around 8:30 p.m. without a reservation. There happened to be a table for 2 available at the time. If I would have been with a third person I would have waited a little longer for a table. Anyways, you go to the front counter situated on your left side after you walk in. Our friend, Tony, asks you for your order. The cakes and pastries, and the different kinds of coffees are neatly and clearly presented on a big board behind the counter. You give him what you want, then you just go to an empty table ,sit down, and within 5 minutes you receive your order by a lovely waiter or waitress, with a smile. This is the real deal my friends. I had a capuccino, and my friend had an expresso, and a "red velvet" cake. The cake was utterly amazing, made with ricotta cheese and a light white creamy icing and very FRESH.Some red icing , with a bit of white strands of coconut is also added of course.. Hell o-oooo ? Excuse me ? Simply a-m-a-z-i-n-g !
Café Milano's is practically an insitution in Montreal. It's been there for over 40 years and unless you read about this place here on my blog, or you know a lot of people in north east Montreal, you won't know about this place. You must go to Café Milano's. Now ! It will feel like being in New York, or ,.....Milano Italy ! Visit their website by clicking on this link: http://cafemilano.ca/

Masala Palace Restaurant on queen Mary in Montreal

If you like good Indian cuisine then the Masala Palace is one of Montreal's best kept secrets. I stumbled across this restaurant while I was taking one of my evening walks through the neighborhood walking along Queen Mary Road heading west from Decarie Boulevard. The big sign outside the restaurant read "MASALA PALACE". It had a nice storefront with a couple of written newspaper articles about this restaurant. I was intrigued and pleasantly surprised by the very postive reviews of the restaurant particularly by The Montreal Gazette daily newspaper here in town. I grabbed a take-out/delivery menu from the restaurant and decided to give this one a try one day. Well, since about 2 months ago I've ordered out from there 3 times, and have taken my British-born friend to the Masala Palace for a dine-in experience. The service was superb. You can easily tell that this place is "family run",and the personnel really took care of you making sure at each opportunity that you were totally satisfied with not only the service but the food as well. The waiter even explained in detail what the dishes were comprised of and how they were cooked. We tried the butter chicken, the Bhoona Gosht Lamb, and a chicken Korma along with Basmati rice and nan bread. All I can say is that this place gets my "2 thumbs up". Please try this place. You will not regret it. It's also very reasonably priced since it's not located in the downtown core of the city where Indian restaurants are priced much higher. Expect to spend about $30.00 per person for a well balanced and tasty Indian food experience.Lunch specials will run about $20.00 . The website address is : www.masala-palace.com
Telephone number for take-out or delivery is: 514-731-5277
